Beanieville: The Rise of The Solar Phoenixes?

  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    Mike,

let me give you a piece of advice, make damn sure you guard your anonymity........
  • lilme · 1 year ago
Beanie has such a nice blog here, don't you think?
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
i do actually.... havent been around much in the last few days, busy with year end stuff on companies
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
The fact the Cramer recommended GU on friday's show tells me he is very cognizant of the alternative energy bull market. If GU goes higher, so will the chinese solar stocks.

You can do a search for GU i've talked about, by typing GU into the box in the left uppermost corner of this blog.
  • zstock · 1 year ago
I didn't know I could search blogs from the little box in the upper corner---

    results of GU search

    Beanie,

sorry i didn't have time to let all in room know about BIDU short, 60 min turned bearish at 280, short interest almost non-existant.... the perfect storm...a rarity.... i'll try to clue you in on the setup next time, i know it's hard to watch and see everything, rode that bad boy down like a rented mule from 280 to 270 and change....is this a great country or what ?
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
    Excellent. Congrats!
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    Z,

space shuttle buy signal ? lmao.... man you gotta copywrite that one.... that's great...... btw, the video is hysterical..... shades of the escher staircase ?
  • zstock · 1 year ago
    thanks doc----
the video blows me away too---
never seen any thing like it---

    Beanie,

489 then 482 test buy points on GOOG, if those fail, then short..... BIDU needs to hold 280 tommorrow, if not, short again
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    Beanie,

drop down 185 - 186 buy in morn on FSLR..... tight stop.... reverse at 204 - 210 on short
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
those are my probable plays tommorrow
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
GS is amazing, might turn death to golden
  • barry · 1 year ago
Doc...explain the GS thing.I'm slow this evening.
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
death cross 50 day ema crosses under 200 day ema..... reverse is compeltion when 50 crosses above 200..... GS showing breakout, maybe false, at price point of around 200.......with banking sector downgrade will probably not hold breakout, however, if 50 crosses above 200.... golden cross buy signal..... will continue up, major buy signal...... shallowest death cross I've seen in a while, very powerful..... look at the death cross back in august and how powerful the resolution was....
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
in other words, when it crosses above here in another month or so, don't miss it..... back up as many trucks as you got....
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
Looks like my RMBS butterfly will make money tomorrow. I'll let you guys know what were the profits.

Do any of you all do iron condors for income? I'm looking into doing them on IWM. I'll let everyone know how that goes.
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
haven't done a condor in a long time, good to see someone else doing them, most of my positions are bear spreads
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
I'm kind of interested in doing them because it seems like you make upwards of 10% a month on each condor. I'm not sure what it does to your required margin, though. If it eats margin and all I probably won't do it.
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
margin is usually much less, cuz only derivative..... but I like your thinking, 10% a month, 120% a year..... just a lil better than the sp 500.... lol
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
Were you tracking RMBS after the break above 17 or before? Thanks.
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
I wasn't tracking it before the big break. In my opinion this isn't anything I would play. It's like a technology version of DNDN. One news event will make or break the entire company. I'm just playing it for the decrease in implied volatility that will happen tomorrow due to the earnings release.
  • sunfun · 1 year ago
Adam what is a butterfly? Can you explain in detail?
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
A butterfly is an options strategy that can be done with calls or puts where you buy 2 options with 2 different strike prices and sell 2 options with the same strike price. For example, I did a 15-20-25 butterfly on RMBS today. I bought the 15 and 25 calls and sold two 20 calls.

When you do this you hope for the stock to stay between the outer strikes, with the maximum gain when the stock is at the mid strike price.

If you have followed my trades here for the last couple of weeks, I do these right before an earnings announcement because implied volatility is high i.e. the options are expensive. The butterfly profits from the decrease in implied volatility. Basically this happens when the mid strike that I short decreases by much more than the two options I buy.

You may ask why I buy the two calls. I do this to prevent an unlimited loss. You can profit from a decrease in implied volatility by selling a call and put at the same strike, but this could cause an unlimited loss. With these the most you can lose is the amount you put in.

Because you are trading 4 options with 3 different strikes, you are having to pay 3 different bid ask spreads, so you need to know what the spread is. I generally avoid doing these when the bid ask spread is $0.50. Also use an options friendly broker to do these because commissions will eat you alive also. It generally costs me $3.40 for each of these with Interactive Brokers. ETrade would be 10x that probably.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    Beanie,

shorted BIDU 280, GOOG at 498 and change...... like Fortune said, it looks cracked...... I like it in the low 400's for a long term buy......
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
GOOG is done for awhile. Going probably to 400 sounds just right.
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    Z,

    yo estoy corto BIDU..... lol
  • TV107 · 1 year ago
we all now as traders that an analyst is scum and worthless and their target is BS but they sure sucker in the inexperienced

01:06am [GOOG] Cut from Goldman's "conviction buy" list

750, 850, price targets and now the stock is dead money

p/e contraction...its done UNLESS its not

my guess...bull run in GOOG will start month before earnings
  • TV107 · 1 year ago
Beanie get rid of these ads

ur rich enough not to have these ads

i cant view this site properly in internet explorer last few weeks...did u change sometime recently

i got errors that shut me down every other time i open it up in a tab
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
My wife does the ads, full time. lol

As stated before, you should download firefox and it should fix all problems.
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
She claims whatever little she makes will go to our kid's educational IRA. She's now kinda obsessed with this site because it gives her something to do with her free time (and she's very proud of her work, to the point i kinda don't want to pull them ads down although i have pulled some), since she's a stay at home mom. Be prepared, folks! lol

So even though these ads could be annoying to internet explorer users, know that it could fund my super intelligent kid's future education. Get firefox and everything will be ok. I use firefox and have never had any crash or ads hovering over the comments.

good luck and i'll see ya in the morning.
  • bjc · 1 year ago
Not to mention firefox is just better anyway.

SAN FRANCISCO — In a preview of what could shape up to be a fierce antitrust fight over Microsoft’s $45 billion offer for Yahoo, Google’s chief legal officer on Sunday made clear that the search giant would not sit on the sidelines, questioning whether Microsoft would “now attempt to exert the same sort of inappropriate and illegal influence over the Internet that it did with the PC.”

The Relief Rally Has Become Short-Term Overbought
    http://www.indexindicators.com/content/the-reli...
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
It is still very intermediate term oversold.

All dips need to be bought.
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
i still think this week belongs to the bulls, although i wish we had gone down on Friday instead of up so much.
  • elmyko · 1 year ago
Dont forget beanie JASO split Friday FSLR earnings next Wendsday morning then YGE earnings next Friday morning. If FSLR blows past earnings then boom back to the top
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
SOHU had great earnings tonite, which is why BIDU gapped higher.
  • penny · 1 year ago
Beanie are you keeping BIDU for sometime? Also where do you think SOHU will go tomorrow?
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
BIDU is an overnite daytrade for me. I'm selling first thing in the morning is most likely.

not gonna trade probably next 2-3 days
so i loaded up with QLD after hours
looking for QQQQ rally into and after CSCO earnings wed afternoon

what the hell is with BSX releasing earnings tonight when they are supposed to release tomorrow?

BIDU collapse after 3pm was like a relief to shorts (I didn't trade it much today) but how it managed to up 4-5% all day was a miracle

i just they felt they overdid it in reg hours

    still...overpriced POS
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    Fortune,

no more shorts in BIDU until 263............
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
I'm trying to get into the AVP 30-35-40 butterfly at $2.10. The spread is bid ask spread is pretty wide at 0.60, so I don't think I'll be able to get into this butterfly at a price I would like.

    BSX is a no go.
  • elmyko · 1 year ago
Um wonder if tomorrow is going to be a good day
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
Not much strong movements on my list the last 30 minutes. So there will be NO overnite trades today, although i'm getting the hint that the solars may gap down in the morning tomorrow. FSLR looks oversold into the close but is short term overbought. This stock got us in trouble with a similar appearance the last time. So i'm gonna pass this one.

193 or better as overnite buy if you must make a trade.

Make your position small and if something doesn't feel right tomorrow, GET OUT!

CME is looking strong going into earnings. Now all I need is MA to die, die, die.

This will be very interesting as both CME and FSLR will report this month.

Now, I just need to time MA
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
hey don;t forget to do your DD on hoo for a long term. Water play is Gold. No real selling from IPO. I sold some today cause I wanted to raise cash but I want to get back in first chance I get. We can all live without power but water is essential.

goog dropping 20+ points a day, 450 should be here in no time.
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
don't discount goog just yet. Could rally strong into the close and CLOSE above 500; however, if fails to do so - Its a good short. Slope looks showing strong downtrend but hey its google...
  • fortune8 · 1 year ago
goog is sitting right above s2 pivot point 494.19 intraday.

personally, I like to see a crack below that.

it might get a dead cat bounce but the damage has been done
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    yup
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago

    hey z

finally got some profit in PBW feb22c.

that was a tough battle and hopefully solars can get a few more days of rally.
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
I'm in the RMBS butterfly at 2.86, way lower than the bid/ask midpoint. My limit was 2.95, too! The Interactive Brokers commercials about price improvement is pretty correct.
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    Z,

GOOG in the low 400's, I just can't imagine that....... lol
  • Mike · 1 year ago
You must have a full mouth of cum.
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
Microsoft is the king of sneaky moves. Since now that GOOG has broken 500, you need to be careful with buying dips. The massive uncertainty can take the stock lower than you can imagine. I would wait till it trades and hold above 500 for any long entry.
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
Broke intraday. Closing below 500 means something totally different.

  • beanieville · 1 year ago
    500
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
Any takes on AAPL? Trading sideways?
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
I'm looking at playing the RMBS 15-20-25 butterfly. Bid ask spread is 2.60/3.05 right now. I'll try and get it for 2.95 or less.
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
Just to let you know that the market could end down deep in the red and most of your solar profits could be cut in half by the close. Are you ok with that? i am.
  • carltonl · 1 year ago
Use your freakin educated head, folks! You do have them, right?
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
Scibby was right on with ETFC!
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
too hard to make money on ETFC puts as the stock really needs to move down as the market makers don't move the spread accordingly. I'm a buyer of etrade here as I feel the upside outweighs the down. I bought at <2.92 and sold at 3.80; however, I'd like to jump back in on any major pullback. I wish scribby the best.
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
You could have made 50% on the $4 puts.
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
Ive been burnt so many time on ETrade options so no matter how tempting I'd rather play a short than a put.
  • scibby · 1 year ago
bought $5 @ 40c.... right now bid is 50c and sale would go through at 55c .... if i was not too impatient could get them at 35c which also equates to around 40%-50%

I am holding till it fills the gaps
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
Yeah its hard to get in at the highs and the low unless they get traded through. Usually you have to settle coming above market by +-.5 just to get filled. ETFC option pit has taken my money many times :-)
  • BM1087 · 1 year ago
How do you see that assuming you bought the high and low? Are you talking about the 5 dollar puts?
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
So the WEN and ADM butterflies posted here Friday would have made money today. I think I'll be okay with a $5 difference between the body and wings of the butterfly now.
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
Z, GOOG might make our $490 price today if we have a nice fade toward the end.
  • Docqb · 1 year ago

    Wednesday:
CI (before market open), EDS, RJET

  • bjc · 1 year ago
Weren't you criticizing people who bought at 57 earlier?

I dont understand..you say you love these stocks, then you criticize people for buying when they are up <5%, then you hype the stocks once they are higher than the point where you criticized people for buying...
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
No, i thought it was a bad idea to buy a huge gap up (and it almost always is)... you can get hurt! Luckily the solars took off but what if they didn't? Also, just by waiting , you could purchase STP at below 56.
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
For longer term traders, a buck or two difference really make any difference. I'm saying that was crazy for any short term trader to be buying STP at 57 premarket...bad idea, but lucky.

Beanie....JASO is going to split on thursday as we all know. I have held stocks through splits before , only to see my investment head south afterward. What are we looking after this split and at what point should we take profit. being that as you said earlier this stock could come under pressure to compete.......
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
I like it for the longer term. I own plenty of solars, JASO being one of them. What is important is the growth. Polysilicon costs will be driven downwards in a few years, thereby raising profit margins.
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
I really don't think polysilicon costs will be driven that much lower because of solar. It is a fairly mature, energy intensive industry. That's why I like FSLR the most.
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
At this point, it's pretty hard to tell which china solars will become big and who has the best technology. Some might get acquired along the way.

    G ushan Environmental Energy
    Four words: Growth, Energy,
Green and China. A new Buy.
􀂄 Initiating with Buy, 65% upside potential
We are initiating coverage of Gushan with a Buy recommendation and a price
objective of US$15.50/ADS, which implies 65% upside potential. Our valuation
incorporates a LT oil price assumption of US$70/bbl and a WACC of 12.0%. Risks
include Chinese diesel pricing, availability of sufficient raw materials at reasonable
cost, project delays and standard industrial operating risks.
    Production capacity expected to triple
Gushan is the leading producer of bio-diesel in China with installed capacity of
190ktpa. This is expected to more than double to 400ktpa by end-08 and then
another 50% to 600ktpa by end-2009. We are forecasting profit to increase by
    almost 150% over this period.
Technology and feedstock advantage driving high margins
Gushan’s propriety processing technology allows it to convert low grade waste
cooking oils into high quality diesel, generating EBITDA margins of ~40% and
ROCE of over 30%. This has led to an enviable four year track record of
profitability, which is quite rare for alternative energy companies.
    High quality, environmentally friendly product
Gushan’s bio-diesel meets European fuel standards and has significantly lower
emissions than conventional diesel. While pricing is currently in line with
conventional diesel in the future we believe it is likely to attract some premium
reflecting its environmental benefits. Furthermore there is potential for the
company to receive tax exemptions under the Renewable Energy Law.

  • scibby · 1 year ago
beanie, I do not agree with your blogs sometimes, do not get me wrong, but you are a momo trader who is able to get in and out several times during the day. I believe you are a trader than can go long a stock one day and close the position and reverse to short during the same day. So it would be unfair to newbies on this board (since its quite popular) as most of the traders buy to hold. You are recommending the same stocks week in week out on the way down...

look at the shipping stocks... for e.g. look at DRYS ... hit a high of 130 and fell to 48... same is happening with these solars... I know your site is not a recommendations site but I would advise with caution (say issue a stop loss point) so as to safeguard if a trade goes wrong.

    cheers ...

do not forget to visit my idea on ETFC

    www.scibbytrading.blogspot.com
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
I like your ETFC idea. Generally I do spread trades, but I think I might buy some $4 puts on the cheap hoping to make 50% or 100%!
  • fortune8 · 1 year ago
    LOL @ scibby !!!

Why are you going to steal my lines -- "beanie, I do not agree with your blogs sometimes"

This is what I have been saying all along. At the same time, people should not be trading following a blog as it can be very risky.

This is why I provide entry and exit point. Sometimes, I see people get stuck holding the bag when beanie has already exited the stock a long time ago.

Another consideration is that, missed opportunities is not seen until it is missed.

Your example of DRYS is a good one because I missed that one at 48.

    SuperBowl time !!!
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
i never liked dryshippers. I explained why.

beanie are you still bullish goog? It's tanking....
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
i still have a long term position. I think short term, they could get rocked by the reasons i've stated.

I may hedge or sell it temporarily if i feel it's going down below 500.
  • fortune8 · 1 year ago
do you realize that goog yoy growth is shrinking?
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
yeah, obviously at some point the growth has to slow down. GOOG is still king.

  • Van_G · 1 year ago
GIGM still holding very strong here

currently making new highs as I type

    $18.60 & beyond

i can't believe GIGM touched sub-$13 just a couple of weeks ago
  • Van_G · 1 year ago
the thing most unusual for GIGM, is it's making a big run on lighter volume than normal

this is usually viewed as a bad thing, but i believe there is absolutley NO selling pressure here until GIGM runs up against its 52-week high of $25

there are absolutely NO sellers after GIGM was completely washed out on its way down to $13

GIGM may see some resistance around the $21 mark, though

"Yahoo management is considering revisiting talks it held with Google several months ago on an alliance as an alternative to Microsoft's bid, which, at $31 a share, Yahoo management believes undervalues the company, the source said."

GOOG will lead the rally on Monday.
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
I've been thinking about the YHOO and MSFT merger and if it goes thru, it can be really bad for GOOG. The only reason microsoft wants to acquire yahoo is an attempt to destroy google. By lowering costs to advertisers and giving a bigger chunk of the ad profits to webmasters, the combined entity can hurt Google. Yahoo by itself cannot afford to do this (nor do they want to mess with google this way) with only 2 billion dollars in the bank. But Microsoft is no stranger to these kinds of tactics, and microsoft is more loaded than google.
  • Adam_G · 1 year ago
I would love to see a good fight on this. It should be more interesting than Guidant, Boston Scientific, and J&J.
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
Microsoft can't lose much from this deal (they suck they way they are right now), neither can yahoo (they suck too by itself right now), but the potential loser most likely will be google once the two combines.
