Beanieville: The bottom?

  • lisa · 1 year ago
    cityslicker

I think this year chinese solars will do better than american solars. They grow so fast along with china whole economy. They are much more established than last year. The profit will be several time more than 2007. China GDP will be 10.9% in 2008. China exports only counts 1% for its GDP. Thats why global economic analysts predict 10.5 to 11% from 11.9% of 2007. I bet a lot of fund manegers will move money to chinese stocks for growth against recession in america.

    F8,

YGE target is not far fetched. YGE will have fouth line come up. The third line already in full production. Most importantly they can do from A to Z in solar industry, From production of ignots , wafers PV cells, modules, instal.... I chose my solars totally based on my own intesive researshes since I am born as researcher( just joke) not completely based on the analysts. I show yoy targer prices because I am happy the analysts see same thing as I saw. But they did not discover CSUN yat. CSUN will be front runner soon.
  • lisa · 1 year ago
The important factor that I like YGE is YGE made its bande name in europe already. YGE has very good customer base there. They coose YGE products first like you guys choose Mac over PC.

There's no free lunch. You have to know what is going on and make a decision for yourself. It's your opinion that count. I am not telling you to make dumb guesses, but make educated guesses. Here is another reminder.

President Bush said the other day. The economy is doing fine. Helicopter Ben said the other day, the Fed is ready to do what ever they need to do. But yet they have done Nothing. Since the beginning of the year the average investor has lost any gains they made over last 3 years. That's lot guys, yet the government and the Fed , just sit back, with their heads buried in the sand. It's almost like they want the country to go into a Depression. My question is: How Much lower do they want this market to go?

good thing we're not average investors eh ?

What is your feeling on SOLF?

    THX
  • lisa · 1 year ago
My favorite solrs : LDK, YGE , SOLF, and CSUN. I hold all of them since I bought them last summer.

YGE price target increased again recently, from $ 194 to $ 225.

SOLF increase fro $59 to $142.

You can find on yahoo finance and nasdaq wedsite.
  • fortune8 · 1 year ago
Why do you like those lisa?

Don't you think YGE's target is far fetched?

Disclosure: I own LDK, TSL, YGE, STP
  • TO · 1 year ago
YGE's price target is not in US dollars
  • lisa · 1 year ago
    It is .

  • beanieville · 1 year ago
I took a look at Gabbly and i don't really like their chat (because of few important shortcomings). Furthermore, a chatroom is counterproductive for most people , imo. Most people who visit my site are clearly not daytraders, as indicated by most of the posts. To give them access to a daytrading chatroom will only hurt them.

I tried it before and it was a mess, and i predict this next one will be no different.

A chatroom will only foster maniacal scalp trading (daytrading many times a day to get fractional gains), which i personally don't do very often. I am a trend trader and i make trades based on trends. Truthfully, on average, i usually do not make more than 5 daytrades per day, and frequently i make only 1-3 daytrades per day and try to get to most gains possible.
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
    that's been my experience
  • danny42nd · 1 year ago
Can someone tell me how to join chatroom? thank in advance
  • troyhouse · 1 year ago
Please do not install Gabbly, most of us will not be able to login from work as it will be blocked... .something to consider...
  • zstock · 1 year ago
    beannie--
WINACE is a daytrader---extraodinaire---( I didn't know that?)---he told me in the chat room---but TK took it down---
So is MAS--( daytrader)-so MOS has one of his good days--(health is failing)---he might show up---
    zee
  • zstock · 1 year ago
    beannie---
well if you do install Gabbly---you'll get a lot of complaints at first---but when there's only three or four people in there--- a lot gets done---
that's what went wrong at TK's---100 people were in it at the same time---

and then you have so much advertising---gabbly might totally interfere with the pop ups---so that's why you'll just have to experiment with it---or stick it on your old blog site----that site is still alive...!!!

gabbly doesn't save stuff---but I can copy and paste everything---into word----
people will have to have two windows open--anyways to use gabbly so your old site could get resurrected---and just be dedicated to gabbly---
    zee
gabbly might save-chats--i just don't know all the features yet---
  • zstock · 1 year ago
the reason i know your old site is alive---is because i post there all the time---LOL----
    zee
  • zstock · 1 year ago
it wouldn't hurt to put gabbly up on your old site----
I'm sure it won't go to waste if you hook it up there----

I can auto size both windows (old blog + this blog)--and veiw both screens at the same time---in split screen---
    zee
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
    fortune8 and zee,

I don't know about gabbly. I've tried a chat room before and it was a mess.

Does gabbly save all the chats?

The bottom for the market will be August, after we digest the current recession and start looking at 2009. Valuations are good right now, which helps, but more pain is on the way.

A good hedge is to go into undiscovered China plays like GU, which comes out of the IPO quiet period this Monday and has great growth potential.
  • singh · 1 year ago
    is over i guess
  • littleme · 1 year ago
Hey Beanie, why do you think it is a bottom, several markets broke through their Aug and Nov lows this week - EEK!!
  • beanieville · 1 year ago
No i don't think we bottomed on friday. But i still stick to my guns that by May everthing will be ok.

What they're saying is that there will be no recession and secular bear market as most bears would have hoped.

I do not think that we can get any worse next week, the market made a bottom this Wednesday and has held above that low ever since - yet it is perilously close to that bottom but if you can figure it out.... Wed was a huge volume day as has been the preceding two days and the day that followed.

Friday's sell off occurred with lower volume which is a good sign - many buyers of wed/thu are reluctant to sell!

Furthermore, the strong stocks have held above their early week lows... e.g. talk about VMW, AAPL, ISRG, etc... look at your favourite stock and most probably you will note that the bottom for it was on Wed 9-Jan.

Also if you are not yet convinced use Yahoo Finance beta charts and draw a 5-year chart of the S&P (which is representative of 500 stocks, so a good sample of the market in general). Draw the 50 and 200 day MA. Now you will note that the deepest corrections occurred when the 50 day line hits the 200 day line (and this happened.... Aug 2004, July 2006 and is again happening now). I have pointed that in my blog about a month ago that this time was going to come.

Furthermore I note here that everyone has turned completely bearish and portray a very negative picture of the economy and the market. And this is usually the right time to trade the opposite of the masses (as I like to trade against mass psycology as it works inversely).

As pointed out by F8, when everyone is talking dull wants to start learning how to short then its the right time to buy. And this is the moment.

But for solars longs this rally will be shortlived and very few stocks will go above their previous highs.
  • johnny appleseed · 1 year ago
first and foremost......we are in a downtrend and nasdaq 2100+/- is a reasonably expected target at this time. The chart says to be a bear till it doesn't anymore. I was merely outlining the possibilities for bigger picture implications, based on any strong moves during next week's OE.

In a technical nut shell, if the bears get greedy and tank us next week, they exhaust and we soon get a bottom that could/should take us to new highs. On the flip side, a continued bounce and chances are we get no bottom at 2350+/-.

That said, a bigger picture fade off any good move next week is the basic outline. Up and the BEAR continues while down and the BEAR gets cut short. Let's see what happens.

Beanie, thanks for supporting my apple stock..lol...buy TWO, it's not the earnings Im worried about, it's the forward guidance!!
  • Docqb · 1 year ago
fwiw, mkts don't crash from highs, they crash from lows, can it go lower yes, will it go lower next week, depends. But for certain, i think a lot of people are going to be surprised in the coming weeks.
  • cityslicker · 1 year ago
Doc, are you calling for a crash?

Wednesday's low is important, a breach of that could see something tremendous.

  • Rock_nj · 1 year ago
The problem stocks have in 2008 is that a recession might cause earnings to decrease and valuations to increase, thus a further fall from current levels is possible, 2,000 NASDAQ does not seem impossible if the recession gets ugly. The good thing is that stocks are on average not terribly overvalued right now like they were during the Year 2000 tech bubble. Multiples are reasonable now around 16 P/E for the S&P 500. Once the end of the recession is evident, then stocks will surge higher as forward P/Es get a lot better. I think the prudent thing to do is wait and see what the economy does this year. August is a typical lowpoint in the market. That's when I'm looking to jump back in.
  • Rock_nj · 1 year ago
I should add that NASDAQ valuations are quite a bit higher than S&P 500 valuations. I think NASDAQ valuations are closer to 30 P/E, because there is a higher growth rate expected for tech stocks, which might not happen in a recession, so the NASDAQ is the index that could fall the furthest if a recession takes hold in 2008.
