The issue with the mkt currently (since most of us have been puzzled about all of the technical violations we have been seeing) is that all of the major players know that the all of the mortgage insurers have written policies in significant excess of their exposure to the tune of approximately 500 BILLION !! As you have seen with mortgage companies quickly becoming bankrupt (e.g CFC) this could happen overnite to the insurers. Wallstreet knows this.. I give Cramer credit for being gutsy (and nutty) enough to expose this on his show tonite.... He additionally challenged the current administration to do something with Bernanke in that he (Bernanke) has no clue.... I agree. If these insurers begin to run out of money, which could happen overnite, we will see a 2000 point correction overnite !!!! With all due respect to the members of the room, whom I respect.... I have bought and sold numerous companies and worked in venture capital on wall street years ago.. this is a time to be extremely cautious... What can we do ? Write, call your congressperson.... I am..... The Fed is on a serious disconnect.... We need a 100 pt basis cut currently, but to do so, in my opinion... would erode confidence and prompt economic hysteria.... I hope this information helps everyone in the room in making prudent financial decisions...... success to all..

Re: Short WYNN definately under 95!

don't worry, i'm posting about it right now.

C. I have yet to take a position as it keeks taking off on me ...even in this market. Read the news or my post earlier today. Put it on your watch.

I had one of my best weeks this week. I did short the MON today but barely was up due to my audacity in trying some long scalps. I keep tight stops though due to my share purchases.and have to sell before EOD as I don't hold anything overnight right now. Case in point:
there is 1 new high today in the nyse. and a whopping 4 in the nasdaq. I have never seen these numbers this low ever. Throw in crazy high CPC and TRIN ma's, and super-high new lows.
Oh and 5 out of 6 nasdaq stocks are below their 200 MA; 4 out of 5 in the NYSE. Seems there are sufficient markers to indicate fear.

Puuuleease.

Re: Short WYNN definately under 95!

Next week we get positive spin of the same old news and market starts going up....

Re: Short WYNN definately under 95!

All the stocks that I watch closed at the strike price.... and we say WS is not manipulated...

Re: Short WYNN definately under 95!

Beanie,
I'm still holding 300 CME @ 544 % 300 FSLR @ 170.30.
Would you hold over the weekend?

Re: Short WYNN definately under 95!

Tame close. They can't run for office until they turn at least a 40% annual profit in the market. Last night Hillary proposed freezing mortgage rates for 5 years!
Here's Fortune magazine's response:

"such a freeze would be disastrous. Interest rates on new mortgages would skyrocket - perhaps past 8 percent, as the mutual funds, pension funds and other investors who typically provide capital to the mortgage market shift their money into other investments where the government isn't impairing returns. With higher mortgage rates eroding buying power, the downward pressure on home prices would only increase. Lower home prices would lead to even more defaults, as more folks who'd lost the equity in their homes choose to walk away from their mortgages."
http://money.cnn.com/2008/0...

Oh, that's right.
