NEW YORK--Ludlow China updates its research opinion on LDK Solar (NYSE:LDK), a Chinese manufacture of solar polysilicon wafers, maintains its B- rating on the company. raises 2008 price target to $90 to $100 per share.
I'll have to see the tape tomorrow morning.
All have my classic 3 day corkscrew buy signal.....that’s all the corkscrew i can get on AAPL..so this might be a tell, tell sign...for tomorrow....which i think is probably an UP day...

It was a quickie short on SPWR, that i could hardly remember about shorting. lol
GTOP has said results are due out before the end of the year. Teh volume on GTOp has exploded over the last 2 weeks. It is a 50/50 crapshoot but the risk/reward seems to be worth the gamble. The drug, if results are good, is a multi billion $ a year drug and I can see GTOP being bought out by any of the big name pharma companies. If the drug fails, then GTOP is done because they are 1 trick pony and this is all they got in teh pipeline for several years.

Lehman analysts Vishal Shah and Tim Luke today raised their target prices on the solar stocks MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR), JA Solar (JASO) and Suntech Power (STP).

LDK guided 3Q and 4Q07 revenues higher
LDK, on 9 October, guided that it shipped 75MW in Q307 and revenues would
be US$140-150m. And on 15 November, it guided that its Q407 shipment would
be between 82MW to 88MW and revenues would be US$165-170m. This would
mean 236-242MW in shipment and US$478-493m in revenues for 2007. The
2007 shipment guidance is 5-8% more than our forecast while revenue guidance
would be similar to our top-end forecast. We believe there is upside to the
company’s guidance on revenues.

China's leading photovoltaic product manufacturer Yingli Group kicked
off the construction of 400MW-polysilicon cell plant, which is built
by its two arms Yiling Green Energy Holding Co., Ltd. (NYSE:YGE) and
Yiling Energy (China).
The new project, involves total investment of CNY 2.8 billion, will
enable Yingli Group to have the world's most advanced solar cell
production line. After it completes construction in March 2009, the
project is estimated to generate production value of CNY 10.08
billion, and profits of CNY 4.03 billion.
Notably, New York-listed Yingli Green Energy has finished the three
phases of construction by June 2007 and now has annual production
capacity of polysilicon ingots, wafers, PV cells and PV modules of
200MW each.
Headed in Baoding, Hebei Province in Northern China, Yingli Group is a
fast-growing group extending reaches into various fields. Given the
solar photovoltaic sector is an emerging industry around the world,
the group has spent huge money and effort building up a complete
industrial chain to be a front-runner in China.

But you have to play fast because if LDK swings big, the you will make out like a bandit.
Ideally for me is that LDK drops HUGE on selling and I take profit on the PUTS.
Hold the CALLS for a January bounce since I still have 32 days out.

I have out of the money straddle on LDK.
If LDK makes a huge swing either way, then I should be able to profit from it.
I have also sold some covered calls against my solar holdings to give me some added downside protection.
Unless solar really takes off by Friday, I just figure it as free money.

Jefferies is positive on the Solar space this AM saying they believe that Suntech (NYSE:STP) is well positioned to rapidly accelerate cell and module production. Suntech recently announced a bolt to 1 GW of capacity by the end of 2008, two years ahead of plan. Over the next two years, the firm sees the company's cost structure benefiting from the introduction of higher efficiency solar cells, a transition to lower cost wafers through longer-term contracts, and declining market prices (particularly in 2009). Moreover, this could allow STP to absorb rapid module price declines while still maintaining margins—a scenario they have built into their forecast and EPS estimates for 2009.
Suntech has approximately $588 million in cash and positive operating cash flow, as well as very low capex costs per watt and a solid history of ramping production well ahead of expectations. Improved polysilicon supply relationships have muted concerns about raw material requirements somewhat.
They believe that investors may narrow the trading-multiple discount STP receives (25x) compared with SunPower Corporation (SPWR, Buy) (39x) on 2009 Street estimates, given Suntech's similar earnings growth pattern and declining risk profile as it relates to silicon as well as recognition of its potential to maintain margins in a declining price environment. STP's new price target is $108 vs $76 earlier.
Notablecalls: Note that Jeffco is also upping their rating on Sunpower (SPWR) to a Buy from Hold with a $170 target (vs $125). They may serve as a ultra short-term catalyst for the group, including STP. Please note that Jeffco has factored a 15% ASP decline for cells and modules in FY2009 and FY2010 into their estimates. Yet, they remain bullish on the space.

btw, CSIQ trades really well today, considering it only give back 88 cents on volume bigger than yesterday's. I still think this stock is a great bargain. Of course it is short term overbought but i was hoping it would be even more overbought. Great for daytrading and a really good longer term hold.

I'm long 1,000 shares of apple and have 09/2010 call options, thanks in advance.
look at crox and vdsi... same story there...
these conditions were present (like in LDK today)...
1) everyone was long on msg boads.
2) a short position was building up.
3) calls outnumbered puts by a ratio of 2-3 times at most levels (read Max Pain Theory).
4) stocks trading near 52week highs
5) huge expectatios to beat heavily.
6) market trend was down
7) stock trading at upper channel line or outside it (above!)
when u have these condtions in place you're a sure winner (like me).
look at this blog... from 20 posts a day, to 200 post a day, everyone is so excited, everyone is so long and everyone is making virtual profits...
i remember a similar blog in 1999 during biotech era, it was called plaintrade.com this was a 3 month boom, where whatever this guy "steve" touted, went up... then all sort of biotech name which had nano, or bio started going up like crazy...
same is happening here... the end results was that this guy sold the website and stocks plummeted 80%+ some never to recover....
history repeats itself.
